Peach PRC has made a seductive return with “Like A Girl Does”, an unapologetic lesbian pop anthem tailor-made for the clubs.
Adorned with swirling synths and an infectious beat, the track leads into a catchy chorus line with the lyrics, “They could never love like a girl does.” The single’s nostalgic 2000s production gives ultimate Nikki Webster or Aqua’s “Barbie Girl” vibes, as does the bubblegum pink cover artwork.
“Like A Girl Does” is Peach PRC’s quick follow-up to her 2023 EP Manic Dream Pixie, which debuted at number one on the ARIA Albums Chart earlier this year. In a feature interview back in April, Rolling Stone AU/NZ praised the Australian artist’s “original, nostalgic pop-inspired songs.”
Peach PRC’s EP featured singles “Kinda Famous”, “F U Goodbye”, and “Perfect For You”, the latter of which paid homage to Paris Hilton’s 2006 classic, “Stars Are Blind”.
Elsewhere this year, Peach PRC has successfully completed a debut headline tour spanning her the UK, her home country, and North America, while she also supported BLACKPINK at London’s Hyde Park.
Next week, Peach PRC will take to the stage to perform at the 2023 ARIA Awards alongside G Flip, Budjerah, DMA’S, Jessica Mauboy, and more.
Closing out this month’s ceremony will be 2023 ARIA Hall of Fame inductees Jet, who’ll perform a medley of their iconic songs in the year they celebrate the 20th anniversary of their seminal album, Get Born.
On the presenting front, Rolling Stone AU/NZ Editor-in-Chief Poppy Reid, Troye Sivan, Baker Boy, Dylan Alcott, Cub Sport, Jack River, Thelma Plum, the one and only Dolly Parton, and many more will present awards throughout the night.
Peach PRC could also be a big winner on the night: she’s nominated for Best Pop Release (“Perfect For You”), Best Video (Manic Dream Pixie), and Best Cover Art for her Manic Dream Pixie EP.
Peach PRC’s “Like A Girl Does” is out now via Republic Records and Island Records Australia.
