They’re one of Australia’s most celebrated live acts, and at a time when shows are temporarily a thing of the past, Sydney’s Ocean Alley are bringing their new album direct to their legions of dedicated fans.
Releasing their third studio album, Lonely Diamond, back in June, a perfect world would have seen Ocean Alley prefacing the release of this record with a number of live dates around the country. Unfortunately, a global pandemic made such an affair quite impossible, with the group pushing back their album tour until early 2021.
Not content to let the stunning record speak for itself, Ocean Alley decided to enter the studio to record a full-album live set, with the ticketed premiere of Lonely Diamond – Live in Studio set to arrive on Friday, September 25th.
Shot on 16mm film and digital by frequent collaborators The Sauce, the Live in Studio set was recorded at Sydney’s Studios 301, allowing fans to become immersed in the behind-the-scenes activity that takes place as part of a live performance from the group. With audio recorded by long-time producer Callum Howell, the performance showcases the group’s stellar performance style, albeit while reimagining Lonely Diamond in this new socially-distanced format fans have become acclimated to.
The premiere of Lonely Diamond – Live in Studio is presented in conjunction with the band’s community brand A Day For The Beaches, which was set up with the goal of raising awareness and funds for local community organisations One Eighty and Cerebral Palsy Alliance.
Premiering at 8pm local time on Friday, September 25th in Sydney, the UK, New York City, and Los Angeles, tickets will allow attendees to watch the set at any time for 48 hours, while Ocean Alley themselves will join for a live Q&A hosted on the video platform to coincide with the premiere in each time zone.
Tickets to the virtual event are on sale now from the group’s website, with $3 from each sale donated to Ocean Alley’s local community partners One Eighty and Cerebral Palsy Alliance.
