After years of speculation and sibling spats, Oasis finally made good on rock’s most-wanted reunion last Friday, July 4th, launching their ‘Live ‘25’ tour with a massive show at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium. The first of two huge nights in the Welsh capital marked the start of a 41-date run across the UK and Ireland, before the band heads to North America and beyond.

Ahead of five sold-out homecoming shows at Manchester’s Heaton Park (kicking off July 11th), Oasis have dropped a live recording of Definitely Maybe deep cut “Slide Away”, captured during that opening night in Cardiff.

The release comes with artwork featuring fans mid-“poznan” — the celebratory bounce made famous by Manchester City supporters. Liam Gallagher reportedly encouraged the crowd to bust it out during “Cigarettes & Alcohol”, proving old habits (and football allegiances) die hard.

“Slide Away” was one of several ’90s anthems in a career-spanning 23-song setlist, alongside “Live Forever”, “Wonderwall”, “Supersonic”, and “Don’t Look Back in Anger”. It also marks the first new official release from the band since 2009’s Falling Down EP, which featured outtakes from Dig Out Your Soul. Since then, the group have occasionally raided the vaults for demos and live cuts, including 2020’s “Don’t Stop”, a long-lost Noel Gallagher track later re-recorded for his solo project, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.

The comeback momentum kept rolling this week with the announcement of a comprehensive box set, featuring all seven studio albums plus 1998’s B-side collection The Masterplan, reissued on CD and vinyl.

For those still wondering if Oasis could actually stay together long enough to finish a tour — it’s happening. And Australian fans will get to see it for themselves this October and November.

“Slide Away (Live from Cardiff)” is now streaming across all platforms.
