Liam and Noel Gallagher received an eight-minute standing ovation at the world premiere of their new documentary, Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger.
The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival over the weekend, where the Gallagher brothers appeared together for their first major off-stage public appearance since Oasis reunited, per Variety.
Following the screening, Liam and Noel held hands and raised them above their heads as the audience applauded, with Noel appearing emotional during the lengthy ovation. Liam, meanwhile, seemed slightly less accustomed to film-festival protocol, checking his watch and mouthing, “Should we fuck off?” before the film’s creator Steven Knight encouraged the brothers to stick around.
The pair later made their way into the audience to sign autographs, as fans crowded around them for photos and signatures.
It capped off a suitably loud premiere for the film, with Oasis fans gathering outside the venue in band merchandise and bucket hats before Liam and Noel arrived. Inside, the audience applauded performances throughout the documentary and sang along to “Champagne Supernova”.
Directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger documents the band’s massive ‘Oasis Live ’25’ reunion tour, which brought Liam and Noel back together onstage for the first time since Oasis split in 2009. The film combines footage from the tour with behind-the-scenes access to rehearsals and backstage preparations, while also featuring the brothers’ first joint interview in more than 20 years.
The reunion became one of the biggest music stories of 2025, with Oasis playing sold-out shows across the UK, North America, Asia, Australia and South America.

As previously reported by Rolling Stone AU/NZ, the documentary was created by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, with Southern and Lovelace – whose credits include LCD Soundsystem concert film Shut Up and Play the Hits and Meet Me in the Bathroom – directing.
The Gallaghers skipped the film’s Venice press conference earlier in the day, despite appearing at the festival for a photocall. Southern said the brothers were never particularly interested in turning their reconciliation into an emotional spectacle.
“It’s the Gallaghers, it’s not ‘Dawson’s Creek,’” he said. “They’re not gonna sit down and talk about their emotions.”
The brothers’ continued public appearances together have only added to speculation that Oasis could extend their reunion beyond ‘Live ’25’. Noel recently fuelled those rumours himself, saying: “Let’s put it this way: there’s no football tournament on next year, so we’ve got to do something in the summer, right?”
Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger opens in IMAX and selected cinemas across Australia and New Zealand on Thursday, September 10th, before arriving on Disney+ later this year.
