Norah Jones Offers Comfort With Soothing New Song, ‘Tryin’ to Keep It Together’

Pick Me Up Off the Floor’ will be released on June 12th

Norah Jones has shared “Tryin’ to Keep It Together,” a bonus track from her forthcoming album, Pick Me Up Off the Floor. Co-written and produced by Thomas Bartlett, the song is a steadfast ballad to offer comfort in trying times.

“This song is going to be a bonus track for the album,” Jones said in a statement. “I didn’t intend on releasing it early, but it kept running through my head. It’s very much how I feel in this moment, so it felt appropriate to release it. Maybe it’s how others feel as well.”

Pick Me Up Off the Floor will be released on June 12th via Blue Note Records. The album will include the previously released tracks “How I Weep” (the LP’s opener), as well as the lead single, “I’m Alive,” a collaboration with Jeff Tweedy.

“Some of the songs that are personal also apply to the larger issues we’re all facing,” Jones has said of the album. “And some of the songs that are about very specific larger things also feel quite personal.

Throughout quarantine during the COVID-19 pandemic, Jones has been taking fan requests and performing originals and cover songs during a livestream series on her Facebook page every Thursday.;
