Nadia Reid Announces Australia & New Zealand Tour

Nadia Reid is heading back to New Zealand and Australia for a string of shows celebrating her fourth album, ‘Enter Now Brightness’

Nadia Reid is heading back to New Zealand and Australia this December for a string of shows celebrating her fourth album, Enter Now Brightness.

The Port Chalmers-born folk singer-songwriter kicks things off on Thursday, December 5th at The Piano in Christchurch, NZ, before hitting The Powerstation in Auckland on Friday, December 6th. From there, she heads to Sydney’s Vanguard on Tuesday, December 10th, and Howler in Melbourne on Wednesday, December 11th. The tour wraps up with shows in Wellington at Meow Nui on Thursday, December 12th, and Dunedin’s Regent Theatre on Thursday, December 19th.

Since her 2020 album Out of My Province, Reid has gone through major life changes, including moving to the UK and becoming a mother of two. Enter Now Brightness marks a shift in sound, moving away from her folk roots with a fresh new feel.

The album scored a four-star review from Rolling Stone AU/NZ, which said:

“A lot has happened to Nadia Reid since her 2020 album Out of My Province: a global pandemic, a relocation to the UK, and two pregnancies. The upheaval isn’t apparent on this collection of folk and laid-back pop, which swings from the gentle (“Baby Bright”, written for her firstborn) to the anthemic (the synth-dappled “Changed/Unchained”). It’s another winner in Reid’s impressive discography.”

In our recent interview, Reid spoke about her new album, the influence of Janet Frame, and how life changes have shaped her music. She recorded Enter Now Brightness with longtime collaborators Sam Taylor (guitar, piano) and Richard Pickard (bass), plus newer additions Joe McCallum (drums, percussion), Ben Lemi, and Finn Scholes. “I think for my first two records, I was really serious, heavy, angry, and sad,” she says. “This album feels lighter.”
