Three more names have joined the star-studded lineup for a John Farnham tribute concert next month.

On Monday (August 17th), it was announced that Vanessa Amorosi, as well as Farnham’s son Rob Farnham and his former vocalist Dannielle Gaha, have joined The Songs of John Farnham: A Living Legend, taking place at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on Sunday, September 20th, with funds raised from the concert to go towards Head and Neck Cancer Australia, which supported Farnham during his own battle in recent years.

Massive names, including Celine Dion, Hugh Jackman, Keith Urban, Jimmy Barnes, Tina Arena, Richard Marx, Human Nature and Jessica Mauboy, will perform in person or via satellite on the night.

“I’ve been incredibly lucky to spend my life doing what I love, and even luckier to have Australians embrace my music the way they have,” Farnham said when the concert was announced in May.

“This (tribute concert) isn’t about me — it’s about giving something back and supporting a cause that means a great deal to me.

“The fact that so many extraordinary artists from around the world have so generously agreed to be part of this night is incredibly humbling and says far more about the spirit behind this event than it does about me. I hope everyone has a great night.”

Farnham retired from public life in 2024 after being diagnosed with mouth cancer. Speaking to Herald Sun, the local music legend said he will not perform in public ever again.

“We can rule that out,” he said.

“Because of the surgeries to my mouth and face over the past few years, singing on stage is not something I can consider again. It’s just not possible.”

The new additions come just days after a 40th anniversary edition of Farnham’s iconic Whispering Jack album was confirmed by Sony Music Australia.

The anniversary edition will pair the original 1986 album with Whispering Jack Live in Concert, available for the first time on vinyl after its original DVD-only release, and is set for release on Friday, September 18th.
