Belarusian band Molchat Doma are returning to Australia this December to tour their fourth album, Belaya Polosa.
Standing at the intersection of post-punk, new-wave and synth-pop, Molchat Doma have been touring the album around the world since 2024. This December, they’ll bring the pulsating live show to the Forum in Melbourne, Sydney’s Enmore Theatre, and The Tivoli in Brisbane.
Founded in Minsk, Belarus, and now based in LA, Molchat Doma went viral in 2020 when their single “Sudno (Boris Ryzhy)” appeared in hundreds of thousands of TikTok videos. The track eventually peaked at No. 2 on the Spotify Global Viral 50 chart and has amassed over 350 million streams.
In the wake of their breakthrough, and release of their third album Monument, the trio uprooted, and had a forced relocation away from their native Minsk to the world stage, headlining massive shows and festivals.
It was in this headspace that the band settled into their new home of LA to finishing writing Belaya Polosa, which serves as a testament to change in difficult times, a love letter to the digital pulse of the ‘90s, and a technicolour reinvention of the band’s somber dance floor anthems.
Belaya Polosa has propelled them into a new direction, encapsulating the band’s sonic development and their behind-the-scenes struggles, while retaining the cold minimalist delivery they’re known for.
