Miley Cyrus is set to make perform her first Australian show in almost six years, with a bushfire relief benefit concert being announced for next month.
The newly-announced gig is the latest in a series of charitable performances that have aimed to raise money for those affected by the devastating bushfires across Australia in the last few months.
Coming just over a week from the massive Fire Fight Australia concert which featured the likes of Queen & Lambert, 5 Seconds of Summer, Alice Cooper, Ronan Keating, and more, the folks at TEG Dainty have once again delivered a massive bill, teaming up with Apollo World Touring and Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith’s Westbrook Inc. to announce the forthcoming arrival of the World Tour Bushfire Relief concert.
Set to take place at Melbourne’s Lakeside Stadium on Friday, March 13, the event features Miley Cyrus in the headlining slot, while country-rap chart-topper Lil Nas X, The Veronicas, and DJ Seb Fontaine serve as special guests.
The performance is the latest addition in Westbrook Inc.’s “World Tour” series, and sees the event planned in conjunction with Melbourne-based carbon negative, renewable energy and fuel company AgBioEn, while taking place alongside the Formula 1 ® Rolex Australian Grand Prix.
Proceeds from the ticket sales will go to benefit Australian charities working to restore forests, wildlife, and communities affected by the fires, including The WWF Australian Wildlife and Nature Recovery Fund, and The Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal.
“As an Australian company, AgBioEn are devastated by the impacts of the recent bushfires, and we are proud to have been able to work with World Tour, TEG Dainty and The Australian Grand Prix Corporation to rapidly pull together this exciting event with Miley,” explained AgBioEn Chairman Charles Hunting.
“The partnership that AgBioEn has developed with World Tour is all about inspiring music fans to become a part of the exciting transition to a net zero, climate friendly future. The World Tour partnership is already taking AgBioEn on a global journey as we develop opportunities in Europe, Asia, USA and Africa.
“Funds raised will be deployed to restore communities and wildlife habitats and transform the way we manage our forests. This work is very much in line with AgBioEn’s overall investment philosophy, which focuses on regenerating communities and landscapes at the same time as we produce renewable fuels that will power us into a zero carbon future.”
The World Tour Bushfire Relief charity concert is set to take place one night prior to the previously-announced World Tour Saturday show, which features Robbie Williams at the same venue. Tickets for the newly-announced gig go on sale through Ticketek from 2pm AEDT on Thursday, February 25.
