Mia Rodriguez is back with her new single, “Poison Ivy”.

The upbeat dance-pop song is just what we’ve come to expect from the Western Sydney singer-songwriter – a song “for anyone who’s ever trusted too soon, and loved too hard.”

The track arrives with a scrap-book style lyric video, which you can check out below.

“Poison Ivy” follows her Halloween release “RUNNING 4 MY LIFE!” (featured in our weekly music roundup), and continues Rodriguez’s mission to bring a high-energy sound. “I want everyone to dance again!” she said about that track.

Rodriguez has been on our radar for a while now – she was named Best New Artist at the 2021 Rolling Stone Australia Awards – but it still feels like she’s just getting started.

She was also featured in Rolling Stone AU/NZ’s Future of Music series in 2024, which noted:

“It may sound silly to say this about someone who’s already amassed over 40 million combined global streams, but Rodriguez is only 21 years old, with no EP or album to her name. The next few years are set to be huge for the Sydney artist.

“A true TikTok success story, Rodriguez’s exciting dark-pop songs and inimitable fashion style have helped her stand out on the social media platform, and she’s now ready to carve a corner out for herself in the pop world with a sound that sets her apart.”

On the live front, Rodriguez has shared stages with the likes of Oliver Tree, Thomas Headon, and Lime Cordiale. She’s also played major festival stages, including Groovin’ the Moo and Beyond the Valley.

Following the release of “Poison Ivy”, this marks the start of a “bold new era… after a period of self-discovery and transformation,” reads the press statement for the rising artist.
