Mel Parsons is hitting the road for a New Zealand tour in support of her new album.

The Lyttelton-based singer-songwriter will play three shows across Aotearoa in June, coinciding with the release of her sixth studio album, SABOTAGE.

The tour kicks off at The Piano in Christchurch on Friday, June 14th then travels to the Q Theatre in Auckland on Saturday, June 15th, before winding up at Old St Paul’s in Wellington on Sunday, June 16th.

Tickets go on general sale at 9am on Friday April 12th via Plus1.co.nz. You can sign-up for Mel Parsons’ SABOTAGE Tour pre-sale HERE to receive access to the 24-hour pre-sale beginning 9am on Thursday April 11th.

Winner of the 2020 Tūī Award for Best Folk Artist / Te Kaipuoro Taketake Toa, Parsons has already given fans a taste of the brooding country-tinged magic to come through the  album’s lead singles “Little Sadness” and “Offer Down“.

The album was recorded in Lyttelton at Basement Studio and co-written and produced with Josh Logan. Together with Parsons, Logan played all the instruments on most songs.

Parsons is excited about the upcoming release and is eager to bring the new record to audiences. After supporting The Teskey Brothers on their New Zealand tour last November, returning to the stage should be a breeze for the esteemed performer.

“Playing live is nirvana to me… it’s hands down my favourite part of being an artist,” says Parsons. It’s the only time I get to connect directly with my audience, and that’s a very special thing which I never take for granted.”

Parsons’ upcoming record follows her fifth and critically acclaimed album, SLOW BURN, which debuted at number three on the Official Top 40 album charts and number two on the Top 20 NZ album charts.

Parsons’ previous album, GLASS HEART, earned her the Best Folk Artist award at the 2020 Aotearoa Music Awards and was a finalist for the 2019 Taite Music Prize.

Mel Parsons’ “Little Sadness” and “Offer Down”are out now.
