Marshall’s New Adaptive A.N.C Headphones Are a Gamechanger
Marshall has just released its new Milton A.N.C. On-Ear headphones. Rolling Stone AU/NZ took them for a spin.
There are noise cancelling headphones, and then there’s Marshall’s new Milton A.N.C. On-Ear headphones. This new product aims to do what other major brands have yet to achieve – true and effective adaptive noise cancelling. And Marshall has undoubtedly succeeded at that goal.
Firstly, what should be noted with the headphones is how incredibly light they are. A common reason why some users stray from on-ear headphones is they can feel heavy, clunky and not compatible with being on the go. But the new Marshall set is as comfortable on a run as it is working away at your desk.
Then there’s the battery life. The new Milton A.N.C headphones provide 50+ hours with ANC on and 80+ without. One charge gives up to three days and three nights of playtime. How much more do you need?

But the real sell of these headphones and why they are a genuine disruptor is its adaptive ANC. Several microphones have been implanted into the headphones that work to monitor and analyse the environment you’re in to ensure outside noise is being blocked out wherever you are. That’s not to say you won’t be able to hear anything in your surroundings. You are in control with the Marshall app. Dial in as much ANC as you like, and when it’s important to let the outside back in, a simple shift to Transparency mode ensures immediate surroundings can be heard.
It’s worth noting that the Marshall App puts the power in your hands, from tweaking the EQ to suit your preferences to adding your headphones to Apple Find My, so you will never miss a beat. In the app, you can also set up custom actions for the on-board M-button: toggle between ANC and Transparency mode or turn Soundstage spatial audio on and off. Jump to the preferred EQ settings, go directly to a Spotify playlist, or call on voice assistant without the need to pick up your phone. Choose your preset, then a press gets you straight to where you want it to go. The Milton A.N.C are also foldable & durable: Created with maximum portability in mind, the durable, foldable design holds its shape no matter where it’s packed.
My favourite feature of the Milton A.N.C. On-Ear headphones though is the Soundstage Spacial Audio. Marshall describes this feature like “you’re in the room with your favourite band” and they aren’t kidding. I listened to a bunch of different sounds and genres to see what it’s all about – punk, metal, pop, blues, even podcasts. But it was listening to live tracks from Oasis’ 2025 reunion tour that did it for me. Not only is the audio and mix crisp and the sound immersive, but when I closed my eyes, it felt like being surrounded by 70,000 people while Liam Gallagher is singing at me. I found myself using the Soundstage Spacial Audio setting throughout my entire experience.

Overall, the Milton A.N.C. On-Ear headphones are a gamechanger. The design is vintage Marshall and will keep regular users of the brand happy, the simple set up and use of the headphones are just too easy to use, and as mentioned, the adaptive A.N.C features could very well be the best in market. No matter what your preference is for using headphones, these will tick all the boxes.
