Marlin’s Dreaming are finally touring Aotearoa again.

After impressing on a brief sojourn to Australia last month, the jangle pop band will visit venues across their home country this July, including shows in Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and a final stop in Auckland as part of Fort Lane Live (see full dates below).

Marlin’s Dreaming last toured New Zealand in 2020 in support of their well-received second album, Quotidian.

“We hadn’t realised the extent to which the pandemic had disrupted our outlook on touring,” the band’s frontman, Semisi Ma’ia’i, says “It’s been a long time between drinks.”

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Thursday, May 25th at 10am local time. The pre-sale begins on Wednesday, May 24th at 10am local time (sign up here).

To celebrate their first visit to Australia in four years, Rolling Stone AU/NZ caught up with Marlin’s Dreaming in April, and the band opened up about the stress of touring consistently again.

“We’ve been a bit late on the post-COVID rush, but have been itching to get out there,” they said. “The past few years we’ve been laying low on the touring front, only playing a handful of NZ festivals and odd gigs. Pretty much as soon as we started as a band in 2017 we just played and played, so if there is any positive that’s come from COVID it was the chance to spend quality time with friends and family and press pause on the touring habits that we’d become used to.

The band are also Rolling Stone AU/NZ favourites: “Dunedin indie rockers Marlin’s Dreaming are one sleep from stardom,” this publication declared last year.
