Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced on Wednesday that a sex abuse case involving Marilyn Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, is under review by the office’s Sex Crimes Division.

In a statement, Gascón said that prosecutors are assessing “new leads and additional evidence” that continue to come from the L.A. County Sheriff Department’s investigation, and that “new evidence” emerged within the last few weeks.

“It is our office’s responsibility to ensure that we have a complete picture of the admissible evidence available before making a filing decision,” continued Gascón. “Senior staff members have met with victims, and our prosecutors continue to remain in contact with the victims and their representatives throughout this process.” He added that although he has “received requests from victims to meet personally to discuss the case,” since the case is under investigation, it would be “inappropriate” for him to meet with the victims at this time.

The update arrives two years after the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department submitted the findings of its 19-month investigation into Warner and allegations of sexual abuse against the musician.

On Wednesday, the district attorney said that his offices anticipates “making a filing decision soon and will provide an update when that time comes.” He added, “At that time, I look forward to meeting with the victims to discuss how my office can continue to support them.”

In August, Warner appealed a judge’s decision to toss out parts of his defamation and emotional distress lawsuit against Evan Rachel Wood, more than two years after Warner first took legal action against his former fiancée and her friend, artist Illma Gore in March 2022.

Although Wood previously spoke about an ex-partner who allegedly tormented her mentally, physically, and sexually, the actress publicly named Warner as her alleged abuser in February 2021.

Warner has been accused of abuse by more than a dozen other women since then. He has vehemently denied the allegations.

In July, Bianca Kyne publicly spoke for the first time and stepped forward with her full identity after a recent ruling in one of her two lawsuits against the shock rocker filed in New York and Louisiana. Kyne had accused Warner of grooming and sexually assaulting her multiple times in the Nineties, starting when she was still a minor.
