They’re one of the most unique bands on the scene today, and now the mighty Mac Sabbath are set to hit Australian shores for the very first time.

For as long as music and comedy have existed, folks have found ways to combine the two. In fact, some artists have found their music to be lesser known than the parodies crafted by “Weird Al” Yankovic, while the presence of acts (and TV shows) like Flight of the Conchords prove it’s a winning formula.

Back in 2014 though, the world witnessed the birth of Mac Sabbath, a group whose premise is as striking as their music. Self-appointed pioneers of “Drive Thru Metal”, the outfit largely perform satirical takes on the works of Black Sabbath, albeit with a fast-food theme, and while dressed in costumes similar to McDonald’s’ mascots.

The result is hilariously unique songs such as “Pair-a-Buns” (a parody of “Paradise”), “Frying Pan” (“Iron Man”), and “More Ribs” (“War Pigs”), and a live show that has to be seen to be believed.

Fronted by Ronald Osbourne on vocals, Slayer MacCheeze on guitar, Grimalice on bass, and Catburglar on drums, the group have found themselves at the centre of viral popularity, even catching the eye of Black Sabbath founder Ozzy Osbourne, who claimed their whole schtick was “funny as fuck”.

Now, the world-renowned collective are set to visit Australia for the very first time, announcing their debut tour of the country. Kicking off in Sydney on May 1st, the outfit are set to visit Canberra, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Brisbane over the course of the week, combining meal deals and metal for one of the most intriguing nights ever spent at a show.
