As Lorde’s highly-anticipated Australian tour edges closer, two stellar support acts have been confirmed.
For the first time in six years, the Kiwi pop superstar will return to venues across Australia as part of her Solar Power World Tour next March.
Beginning in Brisbane on Wednesday, March 8th, Lorde will then perform twice in both Melbourne and Sydney, before concluding the Australian leg in Perth on Saturday, March 18th (see full dates below).
After making their Australian debut at Sydney WorldPride in the same month, rising indie-pop trio MUNA will support Lorde at her Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney shows.
Under Phoebe Bridgers’ Saddest Factory Records label, the three-piece released their self-titled third studio album this year to positive reviews.
And in Perth only, Sydney singer-songwriter Laura Jean will join Lorde for one special performance. A two-time nominee for the Australian Music Prize, Jean released her latest album, Amateurs, earlier this year.
Lorde’s tour is in support of her own third studio album, Solar Power, which debuted atop both the Australian and New Zealand Albums Charts.
“Like Lana Del Rey and Taylor Swift before her, the New Zealand star embraces mellowness on a third album shaded by climate anxiety and a rejection of celebrity,” The Guardian wrote in a positive review, while Pitchfork called Solar Power a “self-aware, scaled-back album.”
