The 2026 edition of Laneway Festival has only just wrapped, but it has already been announced that it will return in 2027.
Festival co-founders Danny Rogers and Jerome Borazio confirmed the news on Monday after the final leg went ahead in Perth over the weekend, which also saw Robert Irwin come out as Role Model’s “Sally” during the US songwriter’s set.
It’s reported that 210,000 fans turned out for the 2026 events, including a further 40,000 who went along to the sideshows. All stops of the 2026 festival were sold out, while the opening leg in Auckland saw a record-breaking attendance.
“We’re so grateful to everyone who made this year possible: the incredible artists who brought their A-game; the fans who showed up with such energy and passion; our partners, venues, and commercial and government stakeholders who play a vital role in the event delivery; and the local and national teams who worked tirelessly to bring the festival to life,” Rogers and Borazio said.
“Putting on a show of this scale is a huge privilege but inevitably presents challenges and we’re already thinking about how to make next year even better. Our two main stages are called Good Better Best and Never Let It Rest for a reason and we won’t stop listening to feedback and making improvements until we create the best possible experience for fans and artists alike.”
Ahead of the 2026 events, Rogers sat down with Rolling Stone AU/NZ to talk about the festival’s journey and 21st anniversary.
This year’s edition reflected a lineup that balances emerging names with artists who’ve crossed into the mainstream.

Sometimes, Rogers admitted, the obvious choice is still the right one – as with Chappell Roan, whose ascent made her a natural fit. Elsewhere, the love for those on the cusp of superstardom – like Geese – remain.
“I heard the Cameron Winter record, I was a fan of Geese, but I wasn’t sure where they fit on a lineup two or so years ago. Now, I booked it thinking it would be a good fit for the lineup, and they’ve turned out to be one of the hottest acts on the planet,” Rogers laughed.
