L.A.B are back (finally) with “Casanova”, their first release of the year.
At the 2023 Panhead Rolling Stone Aotearoa Awards earlier this week, L.A.B won in the Best Single category for their previous single “Take It Away”, a fitting build-up to today’s newly released “Casanova”.
On “Casanova”, L.A.B bring their own flavour to LeVert’s original ’80s classic. It’s a modern Kiwi take, with L.A.B making the track sound extremely authentic, something artists frequently struggle with while remaking a well-known song.
“Casanova” will feature on L.A.B’s forthcoming sixth album, although no official release date has been confirmed for the record yet. The single arrives just before L.A.B begin a UK and European tour in October, a first for the band. Their Amsterdam show has already sold out, with the London date not far behind.
The band have kept busy in 2023 despite being quiet on the release front, performing sold-out shows across New Zealand, Australia, and elsewhere. They’ll return to Australia at the end of the month for two festival slots – at Caloundra Music Festival and Promiseland Festival – before beginning their European adventure. You can see their full list of 2023 tour dates below.
At the 2023 Panhead Rolling Stone Aotearoa Awards on Wednesday night, L.A.B won Best Single, seeing off strong competition from Princess Chelsea, Fazerdaze, and more. They were also nominated for the coveted Global Award, which went to globetrotting power-pop band The Beths on the night. The band previously won Best Record at the 2022 Rolling Stone New Zealand Awards for L.A.B V.
L.A.B’s “Casanova” is out now.
