KUČKA is ending 2024 on a high with new track “FUN!”.
As the title suggests, “FUN!” is all about the thrill of meeting your partner in crime on a wild night out. “You ever met someone on a sweaty dance floor that has the exact mischievous energy as you?” KUČKA explains. “This is what this song is about.”
It’s been a whirlwind year for the Perth-raised, LA-based artist. KUČKA dropped her much-anticipated second album, Can You Hear Me Dreaming?, featuring the Flume collaboration “One More Night.”
The album earned glowing praise, with Rolling Stone AU/NZ dubbing her “Australia’s next great electronic export” and giving it four stars.
“The English-born, WA producer’s second album expands on her impressive 2021 debut album Wrestling. She effortlessly merges irresistible pop hooks with gleaming electronic production, her opaque songs vibrating with glitchy twists and turns,” the review noted.
“This album should be a coronation for KUČKA as Australia’s next truly great electronic export. In 2022, she supported Flume at Coachella; what a pleasing circular moment it would be if the roles were reversed at the iconic festival next year.”
In our recent interview, KUČKA reflected on her evolving artistry: “On my previous album, I felt a lot of pressure, feeling like it had to be good. People didn’t even know I was a producer back then. Now, I’m all about making whatever you want. If people think someone else made it or dislike it, who cares? You’ll get hate online regardless – it’s just a drop in the ocean.”
Her collaborative spirit has also shaped her journey: “Sometimes I’ll show up and an artist will say, ‘Okay, my album is about the universe in 100 years. Can you work with that?’ Experiences like that really inspire me, opening up new creative avenues I hadn’t considered before.”
