It’s been a few months in-between drinks for fans of Kira Puru, but now the party-starting Aussie musician has returned, sharing her new single “Idiot” today.

Having last released new music by way of “Everything is Better Without You” and “Why Don’t We Get Along” back in 2019, fans had been eagerly awaiting fresh tunes from Puru for some time now. However, last week was the first indicator that new material was on the way, with a cryptic Instagram post hinting towards a fresh release.

Sharing a snippet on the social site of a song called “idiot :/”, Puru noted that “no one tagged me in the #unreleasedchallenge but it’s been almost 7 months since I put something out so I’m thinking if you’re keen, maybe I should drop this?”

While the response from her fans was overwhelmingly positive, there wasn’t much waiting involved, with “Idiot” serving as the latest single from Kira Puru, and backed by an animated clip by Celine Diore.

“‘Idiot’ is about being powerless in your attachment to someone, indulging compulsive and destructive habits, feeling frustrated. It’s about being in love even when you don’t want to be,” Kira explained of the new single, which also focuses on “strength in vulnerability”.

For fans eager to hear the new track live, Kira Puru is set to be serving as a special guest on the upcoming tour from Thelma Plum. Originally set to kick off in May, the new tour dates have now been rescheduled due to COVID-19 restrictions. Read on for full details.
