Keith Urban continued his ‘High and Alive’ Australia tour in Melbourne last night with his second consecutive show at Rod Laver Arena.
After igniting crowds in Newcastle, Brisbane, and Sydney, the tour wraps up tomorrow night, August 28th, in Adelaide. Urban praised the Melbourne audience: “I’m blown away by your energy!” and teased the finale: “Adelaide has a lot to prove.”
Urban delivered exactly what fans came for. Jaw-dropping guitar work. Honeyed, unmistakable vocals. A band firing on all cylinders: Pete Kuzma on keyboards, Jimmy Paxton on drums, Katie Ohh on vocals and guitar, Josh Kearney on guitar, Kevin MacIntire on bass and vocals, and newcomer Gabi Louise on fiddle.
The setlist hit all the right notes. Crowd favourites like “Long Hot Summer”, “Kiss a Girl”, and “Blue Ain’t Your Colour” kept the arena singing in unison. Newer tracks – “Straight Line”, “Heart Like a Hometown”, and “The Fighter”, performed with Ohh – proved the endurance of Urban’s extensive catalogue.

Spontaneous moments lifted the night. Urban plunged into the crowd with selfies, handshakes, fist pumps. Then he hit his signature victory lap: leaping onto a small backstage platform to perform a few songs, turning the back rows into front-row fans for a brief, thrilling moment.
Covers added another layer of excitement. Medleys of Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues” and Bob Marley’s “Is This Love” highlighted Urban’s versatility. Melbourne also got a full performance of Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club”, keeping the surprises coming.5 to pursue music.

The show featured colourful lights, futuristic projections, and a giant disco ball. Urban reflected on growing up in Brisbane and Caboolture and leaving school at 15 to pursue music full-time. “God bless my mum… she said yes. I haven’t looked back since.” Childhood photos of Urban and his band played on the big screen, adding a nostalgic touch.
Urban gave everything on stage, performing for nearly two and a half hours. He closed with a five-song encore, ending on the New Radicals’ “You Get What You Give”. “I’ve been finishing all the High and Alive shows with this song…I just love it,” he said.
Presented by TEG Live, Keith Urban continues his Australian tour until August 28th. Ticket information is available here.
