A new festival is coming to Australia this New Year’s Eve, with KAYTRANADA set to perform an exclusive Australian show as its headliner.
Debuting at Perth’s Langley Park on December 31st, Surrender NYE marks an exciting new chapter for the city’s live music scene. It will bring together world-class artists, cutting-edge production, and an immersive celebration of electronic culture under the stars.
Grammy Award-winning producer, DJ, and global music visionary KAYTRANADA promises a night of boundary-pushing electronic and hip-hop fusion against the backdrop of Perth’s skyline and fireworks display.
The Montreal-based artist first broke through with his viral remix of Janet Jackson’s “If”, and has since become a defining force in global club culture. His debut album 99.9% (2016) earned the Polaris Music Prize and a Juno Award for Electronic Album of the Year, while his second record BUBBA (2019) debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Electronic Albums Chart, and took home two Grammy Awards – Best Dance Album and Best Dance Recording for “10%” ft. Kali Uchis.
He will be joined by his brother and frequent collaborator Lou Phelps, one of Canada’s most dynamic voices in club-rap. He began making music alongside KAYTRANADA as part of The Celestics, before launching a solo career with releases including 001: Experiments (2017) — which earned him a Juno Award nomination — and 002 / LOVE ME (2018).
More curated supported will be announced at a later date.
Surrender NYE is the latest New Year’s Eve festival to land in Australia.
