Kacey Musgraves took Madison Square Garden by surprise when she brought out Troye Sivan for her second sold-out show in New York on the Middle of Nowhere tour.
The pair performed their dreamy pop collaboration “Easy” together for the first time, six years after the song’s release. “What’s up New York?” Sivan said as he came out onstage in a brown country-inspired get-up that perfectly complemented Musgraves’ sparkly bodysuit.

Sivan’s appearance at the show was doubly surprising after fans predicted New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani would join Musgraves onstage after she publicly invited him to the show on Monday. “Hey so, @NYCMayor there seems to be a severe pothole issue at @TheGarden. You may wanna come check it out specifically at 8:45pm tomorrow night,” Musgraves wrote on X. Mamdani is known for quickly addressing issues that New Yorkers raise on social media.
Earlier this year, the mayor shared he was a fan of Musgraves’ music in his Rolling Stone Interview. “If I’m feeling reflective, throw on some Kacey Musgraves,” Mamdani said when asked what music he’s into. “I’m still listening to Golden Hour,” he added.

Sivan is also a huge fan of Golden Hour. In a recent interview, the pop singer said the album was in his “top five albums of all time.” He also reflected on making “Easy” with Musgraves. “She actually just messaged me and was like, ‘I love this song.’ And I was like, ‘Well, do you want to hop on it?’” he recalled. “She’s so fucking funny, I don’t know if people know that about her.”
Sivan showcased Musgraves’ humor in a new TikTok video honoring his surprise appearance. In the clip, the pair dance along to Sivan’s new track “She’s the Best” backstage at the show. “I love my cuntry queen,” Sivan wrote in the video’s caption. He is the first surprise guest to appear on Musgraves’ Middle of Nowhere tour, which runs through the end of October.
