Two decades after its release, Feeding the Wolves — the EP that launched the career of Josh Pyke and reshaped the landscape of Australian indie-folk — is getting the tribute it deserves.

Pyke has announced a national tour in honour of the project’s 20th anniversary, with a run of intimate theatre shows scheduled for November 2025 across Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. Titled Feeding the Wolves and Other Stories, the tour will see Pyke perform the EP in full, alongside a curated selection of songs from across his seven ARIA Top 10 albums.

It also marks the first time Feeding the Wolves will be released on vinyl, with a limited run of signed copies available for pre-order ahead of its October 24th release.

Reflecting on the EP’s impact, Pyke said the project captured a moment of creative ignition — a transition from retail worker to full-time artist. “Twenty-one years ago, I was working in a record store, chipping away at demos for a solo project, and dreaming of being a full-time musician,” he said. “One year later I signed with Ivy League Records, released Feeding the Wolves, and my entire life changed.”

The shift was sudden and seismic. In 2005, Feeding the Wolves landed a nomination for Best Pop Release at the ARIA Awards, while lead track “Middle of the Hill” broke through on triple j’s Hottest 100, entering at No. 19. That same summer, Pyke played to a swelling crowd at Big Day Out, watching the audience “trickle in during my set until it was at capacity by the end.”

“I was sitting at a table pinching myself, surrounded by artists whose records I’d been selling at the store the year before,” he recalled.

More than just an anniversary tour, Feeding the Wolves and Other Stories offers a chance to revisit Pyke’s early work with distance, insight and warmth. “It was a wild time, and I feel like it’s only now that I can reflect on it with a bit of distance,” he said.

The announcement follows Pyke’s recent international shows and support slots for James Taylor and Passenger. The November run will spotlight a stripped-back show format, putting storytelling and lyrical craft at the heart of each performance.
