Jordan Rakei is bringing his latest album The Loop Down Under, announcing an Australia and New Zealand tour.

The tour kicks off on Friday, February 21st at Electric Avenue in Christchurch, followed by a stop at The Forum in Melbourne on Monday, February 24th. On Wednesday, February 26th, the band will perform at the iconic Sydney Opera House, before wrapping up in Brisbane at The Tivoli on Thursday, February 27th.

Pre-sale begins on Wednesday, October 16th, at 9am, with general sales opening the following day, October 17th, at 9am. For full details and tickets, visit Astral People.

The Tokoroa-born musician will be touring in support of his fifth studio album, The Loop. Recorded live at London’s prestigious RAK Studios with a full orchestra and a range of musical collaborators, the album has drawn praise for its expansive, cinematic sound.

Rakei describes The Loop as an album created with freedom. “The result is an album that’s filled with emotion, ambition, and a lot of heart,” he says.

The upcoming tour will feature tracks from across Rakei’s five-album discography, along with fresh takes on his latest material.

Speaking to Rolling Stone AU/NZ earlier this year, Rakei explained his approach to the album: “If a song needed to be huge, it had to be massive. If it had to be raw and stripped-down, I had to cut everything back. So you’re left with an album that’s very musically ambitious and big sounding, but at the same time one of my most vulnerable and personal ones.”

As a new father, his songwriting has become more personal. “In the past, I worried about what my band, managers, or friends thought. Now, I don’t care what anyone thinks; this is how I feel. I’m not hiding behind my metaphors or production tricks anymore.”

It’s been a special year for Rakei, including a career-defining performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall. “It’s one of those classic world venues that I’ve always dreamed of performing in for the last ten years,” he shares.

He also made history as Abbey Road Studios’ first-ever artist in residence.

“They’ve basically given me the keys for a year to use it whenever I want, which is pretty crazy,” he said. “I want to use it to make more music. It’s a great place to collaborate with different people and provide a platform for grassroots artists who can’t afford such venues. Hosting camps, workshops, writing weeks, and production sessions would be so fun to bring people who would never dream of being there.”
