US country star Jordan Davis weaved a run of unexpected covers into his hit-filled performance at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on Tuesday night (March 24th), including classics from Matchbox Twenty and The Killers.

Midway through his show, the Louisiana-born singer-songwriter dipped into a string of familiar favourites, reworking “3AM” by Matchbox Twenty, James Bay’s “Let It Go”, Chris Stapleton’s “Starting Over”, and Old Crow Medicine Show’s “Wagon Wheel” – with the help of tour openers Vincent Mason and Tucker Wetmore.

Plus, his lead guitarist Jonathon Jircitano took on The Killers’ “Mr. Brightside”. Check out the covers below.

Davis’ Australian and New Zealand tour kicked off in Auckland last Thursday, and continues on to Melbourne tomorrow (March 26th) before a final show in Perth on Saturday (March 28th). It comes in support of his 2025 album Learn the Hard Way, which marked a subtle but significant evolution in Davis’ sound.

Speaking to Rolling Stone AU/NZ last week, Davis said Australian crowds are on a different level. “The energy is wild – I think that is because we don’t get Down Under often as much as we would like to so there is a little bit more excitement from us and them. They make for some awesome shows,” he explained.

Of his album, he told us: “Learn the Hard Way was the most fun I’ve had making an album. My longtime producer, Paul Digiovanni, produced this project and I feel like we both touched on some sounds we hadn’t explored on past records.”

Davis also headlined the recent CMC Rocks festival in Queensland, playing alongside the likes of Old Dominion, Riley Green, Carly Pearce, and Australian favourites James Johnston and Casey Barnes.
