John Goodman was injured on the set of a Tom Cruise-starring film he’s currently shooting in the U.K., resulting in a pause in production.

Warner Bros. confirmed in a statement that the 72-year-old actor “suffered a hip injury” while filming the Alejandro G. Iñárritu-directed movie. “He received immediate medical attention that led to a brief delay in shooting to allow him time to recover,” a spokesperson for the studio said (via Variety). “The production resumes shooting next week following John’s full recovery.”

While Warner Bros. didn’t provide details of the incident, the Sun reported Saturday that “a leading male cast member” (now identified as Goodman) required hospitalization with injuries to his leg and pelvis following the accident that occurred at Pinewood Studios. (Adding injury to insult, Goodman was among the many celebrities who lost their home in the California wildfires earlier this year.)

In addition to Cruise and Goodman, the still-untitled film also stars Jesse Plemons, Sandra Huller, and Riz Ahmed. The movie, due out in October 2026, focuses on “the most powerful man in the world” who “causes a disaster and embarks on a mission to prove that he is the savior of humanity,” according to its synopsis. The movie also marks Iñárritu’s first English language film since his Oscar-nominated The Revenant in 2016; that movie won Iñárritu his second Best Director Academy Award.

Cruise himself has suffered on-set injuries, but usually because he’s usually performing his own death-defying stunts: The actor broke his ankle filming a rooftop scene for Mission Impossible: Fallout in 2018.
