Jet are set to be inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.
The Melbourne rock band will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at the 2023 ARIA Awards on Wednesday, November 15th.
The honour arrives at the ideal time for Jet, with 2023 marking the 20th anniversary of their seminal debut album, Get Born.
Released on September 14th, 2003, Get Born is one of the most enduring albums to emerge from Australia over the past two decades.
Spawning classic hits like “Are You Gonna Be My Girl”, Jet’s debut sold over four million copies worldwide, becoming certified 8x platinum in the band’s home country, making it one of the top five highest-selling Australian rock albums of all time. Get Born also scored six ARIA Awards in 2004.
To celebrate the album’s landmark anniversary, Jet will embark on their first band shows in five years to play Get Born in full. They’ll perform in Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney in September (see full dates below).
Jet will be the first inductees into the ARIA Hall of Fame since 2020. “Throughout their career, Jet has achieved numerous accolades and milestones including seven ARIA Awards, chart-topping albums, and sold-out tours around the world. They changed the face of Australian rock music with a culture shifting album and have been a
huge influence for other musicians over their career and that truly deserves our highest honour,” says ARIA CEO, Annabelle Herd.
“We’re all quite chuffed and honoured to be in such esteemed company. We are humbled to receive this recognition,” adds Jet’s Nic Cester.
The 2023 ARIA Awards will premiere live on Stan on Wednesday, November 15th at 5pm AEDT. This will be followed by a free-to-air broadcast across the Nine Network at 7:30pm AEDT.
