JessB has announced her ‘Feels Like Home’ album launch tour.
The Kenyan-Aotearoa hip-hop artist will take her debut album on the road across Australia and New Zealand in November and December. Her high-energy shows will visit Wellington, Auckland, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Christchurch, and conclude in Queenstown. Known for co-founding the Tāmaki Makaurau QTPOC club night FILTH, these are ones not to miss. Tickets are on sale now (see below for full details).
The album features collaborations with Sampa the Great, Gold Fang, Kranium, and Jamaican dancehall legend Sister Nancy. On her debut album, JessB explores the “different pockets of her identity as a child of the diaspora.”
“Feels Like Home is a marker in my journey that has been and is still evolving,” JessB said. “Navigating a career in music, whilst also navigating finding identity and self simultaneously. One could not have expanded without the other.
“For me, the music that has been created over the last four years for this album is a direct reflection of the changing sounds of my life. It has been a process of finding a home in how I see myself and how I choose to show up in the world.”
You can read our recent interview with JessB about the making of Feels Like Home, which lives up to the hype.
As one of Aotearoa’s most influential artists, JessB’s impact is felt far and wide. She has shared stages with Gold Fang, Genesis Owusu, Stormzy, and Kehlani; performed at festivals like Listen Out, Laneway, and SXSW; worked with international names like Doja Cat, Sweetie, and G Flip; and co-founded co-founded a vital queer-friendly club space in your hometown. As far back as 2019, the New Zealand Herald was covering JessB, as much for her distinct style as for her music.
