Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez have settled their divorce, officially ending their marriage. The former couple quietly reached a settlement in September, just one month after Lopez originally filed.
According to documents obtained by the Associated Press, Affleck and Lopez utilized mediation to finalize the terms of the split. And while most of the financial details of their divorce are not public, neither will pay the other spousal support. Lopez will drop Affleck from her legal name.
Lopez first filed for divorce from Affleck on Aug. 20, the same day as the second anniversary of their traditional wedding ceremony. They cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split and listed April 26 as their date of separation.
Lopez and Affleck reunited as a couple in 2021, nearly two decades after their engagement ended in the aftermath of their shared (and failed) film, Gigli. Bennifer 2.0 wed at a Las Vegas wedding chapel before having a more blown-out affair the next month in Georgia; at that wedding ceremony, Lopez performed a fully choreographed dance to a new song celebrating their union.
Less than a year after marrying, rumors of the pair’s impending break-up emerged, spurred by speculation that Affleck had moved out of the couple’s home. Lopez, meanwhile, canceled the entirety of her This Is Me… Live tour on May 31, less than a month before it was set to embark. “Jennifer is taking time off to be with her children, family, and close friends,” a Live Nation rep said of the canceled trek at the time.
The couple has no children together, but they have continued to spend time with each other’s respective children in the months since they split. Affleck divorced Jennifer Garner, with whom he has three children, in 2018. Lopez has been married four times and has twins with singer Marc Anthony.
