Melbourne’s Pierce Brothers have shared a trio of acoustic compositions for the latest instalment of Rolling Stone’s ‘In My Room’, a series in which artists perform from home following a year which has seen live shows become a rarity.
Jack and Pat Pierce have spent years now sharing their majestic, heartfelt compositions with crowds the world over, turning them from busking sensations to renowned performs in their own right. Just last month, the pair returned with their latest album, the stunning into the great unknown. A collection of tracks that showcase the twin brothers at their very best, it’s equal parts emotive, exuberant, and celebratory.
Currently in the midst of a tour in support of the record, Jack and Pat were kind enough to lend their time to record a quick set for our ‘In My Room’ series, showing exactly how their minimal performance style can make them feel larger than life.
Kicking things off with the majestic “it’s alright”, we get a little bit of a heartfelt number thanks to the resounding “one”. “This is a song about becoming a father, which I did about seven months ago,” Jack admits prior to the performance.
Lastly, the pair close out their far-too brief set with a rendition of the fitting “brother”, which they self-described as a “crescendo-building indie folk anthem” upon its release in February. Wrapping things up with a cheeky nod to their recent album, it’s a perfect way to cap off a powerful set, juxtaposing the casual nature of the pair’s interactions with their mystifyingly beautiful songs.
