Two-thirds of Sydney indie-rock outfit CREO have showcased their gorgeous compositions for the latest edition of Rolling Stone’s ‘In My Room’, a series in which artists perform from home while in quarantine.
This year has been a devastating one for most artists around the world, but thankfully, many of these creative musicians have managed to emerge from this adversity with a handful of new tracks to show to their dedicated listeners. This is exactly the situation that CREO have found themselves in this year, with the group sharing tracks such as “Juliet” and “Demon to Love” over the past months.
Sharing the former in May and the latter last week, it’s “Demon to Love” that opens up the group’s ‘In My Room’ session, which is arguably one of the most aesthetically pleasing entries in the series to date, with gorgeous foliage, spacious rooms, and wooden floors giving CREO’s performance a decidedly organic feeling.
“‘Demon to Love’’ was written off the back of my daily struggle with today’s all too common comparison culture,” frontman, Jorjee Haman explained of their opening track’s composition.
“Towards the end of last year, I found myself constantly focusing what those around me were doing, and comparing myself to them. It’s almost unavoidable these days with social media – so I deleted all of it, focused on my wins, and it’s made me a much happier person.
“The song is a celebration of loving all of you, not just the parts that you want people to see. Life is hard enough; why make it harder?”
As the pair continue through their set, they took a look into their back catalogue, with “Give Me Yours” being lifted from their 2017 EP, Subtitles for X, Y, Z, while set closer (and live favourite) “Plasticine Mezzanine” was featured on their 2018 release, In the Red.
A gorgeous example of what makes CREO one of the most enticing bands on the local music scene, the full three-piece outfit are currently working towards the release of a new EP in the new year. In the meantime, their latest single, “Demon to Love”, is available on all platforms now.
