Their new song might be called One Bad Day, but fans can count January 11, 2024, as a pretty good one. Fremantle’s Spacey Jane have shared with fans a taste of new music, a stand- alone single entitled ‘One Bad Day’.
It goes without saying, 2023 was a hectic year for the Western Australian band. They toured both regionally and internationally, released a deluxe edition of their second album, Here Comes Everybody and had six placements in the 2022 Triple J Hottest 100. To ‘bookend’ it all, the band thought to release another song as “thank you to fans”.
The upbeat track has been described by lead singer, Caleb Harper as “an ode to overreacting [and] giving up on a good thing because you can’t see the forest for the trees”. The song was written by the band after the release of their second album.
Not wanting to shelve the single, but also feeling that it did not fit with the band’s new material, they have released the single as a bridge between their current music and upcoming third album.
Here Comes Everybody was released in June 2022 and marked a rise in Spacey Jane’s fame: debuting at #1 on the ARIA Charts and later being certified Gold. With the band’s touring schedule now complete, they are resetting in order to “write new music that [they’re] proud of and excited about”.
“We’re almost back from our little hibernation, our third album is about halfway recorded and we’re really, really excited to start sharing it with you,” they said.
We wait patiently for that. Check out their new song below.
