Gretta Ray has temporarily joined forces with one of her musical idols, performing alongside Keith Urban for a rendition of his hit single “One Too Many” overnight.
Originally released in September of 2020, “One Too Many” served as the penultimate single from Urban’s 11th album, The Speed of Now Part 1, which not only topped the Aussie charts, but also topped the US Country charts, too. The single, which hit the top ten in Australia, saw Urban teaming up with honorary Aussie P!nk for the ode to resilience which arrived at a rather fitting time in the world.
Currently serving as a judge on the latest season of The Voice, last night (September 12th) saw Urban perform a special version of the song as part of the show’s grand finale.
With P!nk’s vocals appearing by way of a video screen, the slow-burning rendition begins humbly backstage, with Urban’s band being complemented by Gretta Ray on acoustic guitar, before he bursts out onto the main stage.
Speaking of her appearance on Twitter after the fact, Ray expressed shock at the experience, noting it was one that holds a very special place in her heart. “Does someone want to go tell my 13 year old self who had a deep obsession with The Story So Far that this happens 10 years later ??” she wrote.

Just last week, Gretta Ray penned an in-depth essay that focused on not only the impact that Keith Urban’s music had upon her, but illustrated the unifying effect that his uplifting songwriting has had upon the world.
“Keith Urban’s music is universally therapeutic and connecting,” Ray wrote. “Its accessibility means we can experience the collective joy of singing out a familiar melody amidst a large group of people.
“During a singalong, there is no judgement, no clashing of views and no resentment held towards others. All that matters in that moment is that everyone really loves the music and in that moment, we are connected.”
Keith Urban also currently serves as the cover artist of the recent issue of Rolling Stone Australia, with an Australian tour currently set to take place later in the year.
