GloRilla has been released from Forsyth County Jail in Georgia on a $22,260 bond after voluntarily turning herself in on charges of felony drug possession. The 25-year-old was placed under arrest on Monday, July 22, after local authorities discovered “a significant amount of marijuana” in the master bedroom of her home while responding to reports of a burglary at the residence.

The rapper, born Gloria Woods, was not home at the time of the incident, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, July 20. “It was reported that three suspects had entered the home and were in the process of stealing items when an armed occupant fired at the intruders. The suspects fled the scene, and it does not appear that any of them were struck,” the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office shared in a statement to Rolling Stone.

Authorities were unable to locate the suspects, but initiated an investigation at the location “due to the nature of the incident involving a burglary and shots fired.” It was during this investigation — led by Major Crimes detectives and the Crime Scene Unit — that the Lanier Regional Drug Task Force was called in to respond to the “strong odor consistent with illegal narcotics” detected by deputies on the scene.

“Based on information obtained during the initial investigation, Task Force agents secured a search warrant for the home,” the statement continued. “A significant amount of marijuana was discovered in plain view inside the master bedroom closet. The homeowner, Ms. Gloria Woods, who was not present during the burglary, was subsequently charged with Felony Possession of Marijuana and Possession of schedule one controlled substance.”

Representatives for GloRilla did not immediately respond to Rolling Stone‘s request for comment.

GloRilla addressed the incident on X, writing, “My House got Home Invaded Saturday While I was in Indianapolis performing for the WNBA all star game & instead of Focusing on finding the Suspects, they focus on some cannabis.” In a three-point list, she clarified: “So no I wasn’t busted. My house got robbed. I wasn’t home.”

“Long story short my house gets home invaded and Im the only one that gets arrested,” GloRilla said.

The investigation into the burglary that led to the arrest is ongoing. “The homeowner is a victim of a serious crime, and we are committed to bringing the suspects to justice,” Sheriff Ron Freeman said. Detectives were able to recover “physical and trace forensic evidence” they believe is connected to the suspects. “At the same time,” Freeman added, “we must continue to uphold and enforce the law in all aspects of this case.”

In a statement shared with Rolling Stone, legal representatives for GloRilla described the rapper’s arrest as “a disturbing window into how warped law enforcement priorities have become.” Findling Law Firm’s Marissa Goldberg and Drew Findling noted that at the time of the incident, the residence was occupied by family members who “were traumatized by the violent entrance of this group who grabbed high value jewelry before taking off once they realized the home wasn’t vacant.”

“When her family members did the right thing and called law enforcement, instead of investigating the violent home invasion and theft at Ms. Woods’ home, they instead sought a search warrant when they spotted what they believed was a small amount of marijuana,” the statement continues. “Law enforcement then sought arrest warrants for her even though she hadn’t been at her home for some time. No arrest warrants have been issued for the violent home invaders. Ms. Woods is a victim, not a suspect. This is our tax dollars at work, absolutely unbelievable.”
