Just two months on from the release of her latest single, “Hyperfine”, G Flip has teamed up with US musician LoveLeo to offer a refreshing take on the immersive single.
Releasing the original version of the track back in early May, the release of “Hyperfine” came following months of teasing by the Melbourne musician. Having performed the track live numerous times, G Flip shared a demo version in late February, before performing it on triple j’s Like A Version in early March.
“I’ve been playing this song live quite a bit and it’s one of the songs that I always get feedback from and people are messaging me like, ‘When are you gonna release it?’ And I was like, it’s not ready yet but I can just play it on piano,” Georgia explained at the time.
“So I put it up and did not expect the feedback that I got from that. It got over nearly 40,000 views on the first day.”
Co-produced with Tim Anderson (Billie Eilish, Solange, Banks) in LA, the single serves as the first taste of new music from G Flip since the release of her debut album, About Us, in August of 2019.
“I wrote this song after having silly little bickering fights with my partner. In relationships it’s so common to say “it’s fine” when it’s really not fine,” G Flip explained of the track.
“If you care about someone, talk to them. In the context of what’s going on, I thought it would be a good chance to drop a bit of a bop to sing along to and feel alive again in this time.
“I started playing this live on my album tour late last year and people really got around it and have been demanding it ever since. If you’re not feeling “fine” right now, don’t be afraid to speak up about it. We’re in this together.”
Now, the critically-acclaimed artist has teamed up with US musician LoveLeo to share a new version of the track. A relative newcomer to the scene, LoveLeo made waves earlier this year with the release of his debut single “BOYFREN”, which topped Spotify’s Global and US Viral Charts.
Also known as the son of actor John C. Reilly, LoveLeo’s addition to the track breathes new life into G Flip’s original, and provides a taster of what to expect when he releases his debut EP later this month.
G Flip’s “Hyperfine (feat. LoveLeo)” is out today.
