Frankie Valli made headlines earlier this week after his brother Bobby sounded an alarm that Frankie was retiring. Turns out, the “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” singer might need to keep an eye on what his brother is saying because Frankie said he plans to keep on working.

The confusion over Valli’s career status began after Bobby took to social media earlier this week to announce that his brother Valli “will now retire. We will always have special memories of Frankie Valli. He has reached a place in his life where his family is there to love, cherish and to be there for him. We appreciate your love and concern.” The post has now been modified to omit the retirement statement.

Valli responded on Friday, Aug. 14 with his own post. “In spite of what you might have heard, I am not retired,” he posted on Instagram, along with a photo of him performing.”

Shortly afterward, his brother Bobby then posted an apology. “I apologize, I was misinformed,” he wrote. “I was under the impression my brother Frankie was retiring. Hoping for him to have a speedy recovery to continue his illustrious career!” It’s unclear what Valli may be recovering from.

In May, Valli announced that he would be taking time off the road for the remainder of the year due to his health. “I’m so sorry to disappoint the folks who have purchased tickets to my shows, but I have decided to take the rest of the year off from touring to focus on my health,” he wrote on Instagram at the time. “I’m looking forward to getting healthy and seeing you all again soon. Thank you for all your good wishes.” Valli did not disclose specifics regarding his health issues.

A rep for Valli did not immediately return Rolling Stone’s request for comment.
