Dream-pop-shoegaze outfit Flyying Colours have announced a trio of east coast Australian tour dates today, marking the group’s first full-capacity shows since the release of last year’s Fantasy Country.
Kicking off in June, the Melbourne quartet will play three shows in as many days, visiting The Corner Hotel in Melbourne and The Lansdowne in Sydney, before wrapping things up at the Black Bear Lodge in Brisbane.
“These shows are going to be our biggest and brightest yet,” says songwriter and guitarist Brodie Brümmer. “Headline club shows are our absolute favourites to play and we can’t wait to curate these special nights.”
Having captured the attention of music-lovers the world over with the release of 2016 debut album Mindfulness, it was in early 2021 that the group unveiled their latest album, Fantasy Country, which featured the likes of standout track “OK”.
“This record is made up of songs written at a time in my life when I felt like everything was just moving so very fast, and even though I was happy enough I felt like I never had any control,” Brümmer explained upon its release. “Maybe this song has that sense of helpless optimism or confused confidence, I don’t know. But it’s all about what it means to you really.”
Upon the release of Fantasy Country, Flyying Colours were able to sneak in a small run of limited capacity shows in support of the record, though a tour of full-capacity dates remained elusive until now. Needless to say, with such a long time between drinks for the outfit, Flyying Colours are set to make sure that these shows truly count.
