Flight of the Conchords are finally returning to Aotearoa New Zealand for a national tour.
Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement have announced their first New Zealand tour since 2012, with five shows set for Wellington, Christchurch and Auckland this November.
The run will begin at Wellington’s Michael Fowler Centre on November 10th before heading to Christchurch’s Wolfbrook Arena. The duo will then return to Wellington for a second show before wrapping up with two nights at Auckland’s The Civic. See full dates below.
Tickets will go on sale at 1pm on Friday, September 18th, following an artist presale at 12pm on Thursday, September 17th. All times are NZST. Sign up for presale here.
Flight of the Conchords quietly returned to the stage earlier this year following an eight-year break from performing together. In April, McKenzie and Clement played a run of intimate hometown shows at Wellington’s Meow Nui, with tickets snapped up within minutes. They followed the comeback with two performances at Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre in May as part of the ‘Netflix Is A Joke Fest’.
The November dates, however, mark their first proper tour across Aotearoa in 14 years.
“Kia ora Aotearoa! You asked, and we listened,” Flight of the Conchords said on social media. “We’re bringing the guitars out of the tall grass and heading your way this spring for three very special shows in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch.”

Formed in Wellington in the late ’90s, McKenzie and Clement went from performing their musical comedy locally to finding an international audience, eventually landing their self-titled HBO series in 2007. Despite only running for two series, the show is still considered one of the best comedy series of all time. On the Rolling Stone Uncut podcast earlier this year, McKenzie told us that to this day, people still ask if a third season will eventuate.
Across two seasons, Flight of the Conchords turned songs including “Business Time”, “The Most Beautiful Girl (In the Room)”, and “Hiphopopotamus vs. Rhymenoceros” into cult favourites, while their 2007 EP, The Distant Future, earned them a Grammy for Best Comedy Album.
The pair’s last national tour of New Zealand took place in 2012, with the duo later reuniting for tours overseas and the 2018 HBO special Flight of the Conchords: Live in London. Over the years, McKenzie has released solo music and toured independently, while Clements’ solo work outside of the band has focused on acting, screenwriting, and directing.
