Flamingo Pier are throwing a massive birthday bash on Waiheke Island, celebrating 10 years of their annual dance music festival. The party’s happening at their new spot, Ahipao, on Saturday, February 8th, 2025.
This year’s lineup features an exciting mix of local and international talent. Chicago disco legend Sadar Bahar, Amsterdam’s Kamma (Dekmantel + Rush Hour), and London’s Make A Dance will join New Zealand favourites like Frank Booker, Nathan Haines (DJ/live), Bontempo, and Carlotta & Scarlett.
Flamingo Pier will perform twice – first for a DJ set indoors, and later as a five-piece band on the outdoor main stage, accompanied by Nathan Haines on saxophone and flute.
Flamingo Pier’s trio – Luke Walker, Dom Jones, and Brad Craig – are hyped for the milestone.
“We’re so grateful to still be dancing together on the island a decade in. All of this year’s artists have been part of the story so far. It’s a celebration of the family we’re lucky to have through the parties and music,” says Walker.
It’s been a big year for the crew, including the release of their Supro EP on London’s Soundway Records and shows around the globe.
Tickets go on sale Thursday, December 5th, at 6pm local time for mailing list members (sign up before 5pm that day for a pre-sale password). General tickets will be available from Friday, December 6th, at 9am local time.
Set at Ahipao, just a 35-minute ferry ride from Auckland followed by a short walk, the festival offers two dancefloors. The outdoor stage, surrounded by native trees and overlooking Matiatia Bay, promises stunning sea views and sunsets, while the indoor stage provides a more intimate setting.
Flamingo Pier began in London’s Hackney Wick, where the trio and friends hosted monthly parties in a warehouse. Bringing the concept back to Aotearoa, they’ve made their mark with these much-loved Waiheke events.
