A raft of show cancellations and postponements were announced last week as Southeast Queensland and Northern New South Wales braced for Tropical Cyclone Alfred to impact the coast, including Green Day’s final Australian show on the Gold Coast, Meatstock in Toowoomba, Alexisonfire and Underoath at Riverstage, Courteeners at The Tivoli and AFI at Fortitude Music Hall.

While scheduling conflicts and other commitments have prevented the immediate rescheduling of some of those events, here’s what we do know about the current shows rescheduled from the weekend of Thursday, 6th – Sunday, 9th March:

Oliver Anthony

Breakthrough American country artist Oliver Anthony was scheduled to perform at Meatstock in Toowoomba, which was cancelled entirely. His headline show at The Tivoli, supported by Beau Shearer, will be rescheduled to Tuesday, 11th March. Tickets will remain valid for the new show. Those requiring a refund can do so via the venue’s website. More information can be found here.

Alexisonfire and Underoath

Post-hardcore and emo icons Alexisonfire and Underoath were scheduled to perform at Riverstage on Saturday, 8th March—when ex-TC Alfred really started unleashing on the river city. A bad time to be at an outdoor venue, by anyone’s standards. Luckily, Frontier Touring had already come up with a solution and announced the bands would perform across two nights at the indoor, weather-proof Fortitude Music Hall on Saturday, 15th and Sunday, 16th March.

For those with tickets to the Riverstage event, Ticketmaster will send information about the new dates, how to choose preferred dates, and how to request a refund if you can no longer make it to either of the new shows.

Additional tickets will be available soon. Ticketmaster and Frontier will need to finish reallocating existing ticket holders to the new dates before releasing any new ones. Fans should check Frontier Touring’s social media and website on Wednesday, 12th March, for updates.

Ruby Fields

Indie rock darling Ruby Fields had to split and reschedule her trio of SEQ dates thanks to the inclement weather across the weekend. “I’m so sorry, I’ve never cancelled shows before but safety first, as someone in the northern rivers (sic) I’m preparing for a few days hunkered down also,” she shared on Instagram. The Brisbane show at Lefty’s Music Hall, originally scheduled for Thursday, 6th March, has been rescheduled to Thursday, 13th March. The show at King’s Beach Tavern on the Sunshine Coast has been moved from Friday, 7th March to Friday, 28th March, and the show at Burleigh Town Hall on the Gold Coast has been moved from Saturday, 8th March to Thursday, 27th March. Tickets will remain valid for the new dates, but refunds can be obtained from place of purchase.

Chillinit

Chillinit was scheduled to perform at Brisbane’s Crowbar (formerly The Zoo) on Friday, 7th March, but was “beaten” by Mother Nature. “Trust me when I say I’m spewing we have to do this,” Chillinit wrote in the announcement of the cancellation. “We off to Melbourne the next day though for there (sic) sold out show with @nabio.1 and a surprise guest and will do a lap back around for Brisbane.” Tickets will remain valid for the new date.

Daily J & Great Gable

Daily J and Great Gable both had individual shows on the Sunshine Coast cancelled by the cyclone, as well as a joint show in Brisbane on Friday, 7th March. The Auckland-based indie-psych band and WA-based indie rock band have joined forces for their rescheduled shows, adding a third date together on the Gold Coast. Their new dates are: Wednesday, 9th April at Solbar Maroochydore, Thursday, 10th April at Miami Marketta, Gold Coast, and Friday, 11th April at Brightside Outdoors, Brisbane.
