Ed Sheeran is bring a pop-up pub to Auckland, to celebrate the release of his new album Play.

Over September 12th-14th, fans are invited to raise a glass at The Old Phone, a special pop-up taking over Commercial Bay. For one weekend only, visitors can enjoy drinks, food, games, music, and Sheeran’s music in the heart of Auckland’s CBD.

Scheduled for release on September 12th, Play features recent singles “Azizam”, “Sapphire”, and “Old Phone”, and the album is described as “an explorative, technicolour pop album that captures the fun, chaos, and heart of an artist reinvigorated by life and travel”.

Last month, he also released the single “A Little More”, also on the forthcoming album, with the music video featuring Harry Potter stan Rupert Grint. It reconnects Sheeran’s fans with a character he introduced in the “Lego House” music video 14 years ago.

In the original video, Grint played a Sheeran superfan with a serious, unhealthy obsession. But in “A Little More”, Grint’s character returns to his childhood home after serving time behind bars for stalking, only to find his room still plastered with Sheeran posters and merch. From there, he goes to “Stalkers Anonymous” meetings, watches old Sheeran interviews, and tries to ease back into a normal life. Before he can spiral again, he meets a girl, falls in love, proposes, and moves in with her, slowly letting go of his obsession.

Sheeran is bringing his ‘Loop Tour’ down under in 2026, playing shows in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Perth, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Adelaide through January, February, and March of next year. Due to overwhelming demand, he added extra shows in four cities.

The English singer-songwriter is hugely popular in these parts, having previously sold 2.5 million tickets across Australia and New Zealand to date.
