Dune Rats rock out with their fifth studio album, If It Sucks, Turn It Up.

Out today, August 2nd, IISTIU (via Ratbag/BMG) is a left-step for Dune Rats, the “most adventurous musical statement yet for the band,” reps say. It represents a new level of creative comfortability, from an act keen and hungry to push their sound.

“We wanted to make an album that throws you around a bit, like you are being washed around in the surf,” says guitarist Danny Beus. “We’re five albums in now so we knew it should be a record that shows all the different sides to the band.”

The trio has been prolific of late, ripping out three studio album since 2020 and five studio efforts in a decade – dating back to their self titled LP in 2014 (not including their three EPs released between 2011-2013).

They had early success via triple j which got behind their second album, 2017’s The Kids Will Know It’s Bullsh*t which hit No. 1 on the ARIA Chart.

In support of the new, 10-track release, Dune Rats will head out on the road with FIDLAR for a national tour, which kicks off next month.

But first, a national album launch.

FIDLAR and Dune Rats’ relationship “has honestly been a touring brotherhood that has seen us ping pong all over the world,” reads a statement. “It’s been the best part of a decade playing shows together that started when they first came to Australia doing venues half the size of the ones we are playing on this tour. Can’t wait to show them how crazy it is to play in Australia this time round.”
