It’s a good day to be a Dune Rats fan.
The Brisbane punk rock band have dropped two new singles, “Sharks” and a re-recorded version of “Fuck It!” from their third EP Smile.
“‘Sharks’ is about going against the current of the norm, and following what you wanna do even though you’re at the time it seems crazy to achieve it. When you’re in a band, a lot of friends and family think you’re mental to believe it’ll be your career,” the band share.

Since forming in Brisbane, Dune Rats — Danny Beus, BC Michaels, and Brett Jansch — have become one of the most distinctive DIY punk bands in Australia.
Their most recent album, 2024’s If It Sucks, Turn It Up, was nominated for Best Hard Rock / Heavy Metal Album at that year’s ARIA Awards.

Critics loved the album, too, with CLASH giving it a stellar 9/10 rating.

Dune Rats have toured across the world in recent years, from the US to South Africa, and have also dominated major festival stages at home, including Splendour in the Grass and Laneway.
Following a support slot for English rocker Yungblud on his Australian tour, Dune Rats will embark on an Aussie tour of their own this March, playing shows in Brisbane, Sydney, Torquay, Melbourne, Merimbula, and Sussex (see full dates below).
The ‘Old Mates Tour’, which will take them to pubs and coastal rooms that shaped the band, will coincide with the release of Old Mates, an album collecting tracks from the band’s first three EPs alongside the new single “Sharks”.
