Dolly Parton surprised fans on Monday with the digital release of six albums previously unavailable on streaming.

“Surprise! 93 of your favorite classics are finally available again online!” Parton wrote on Twitter. “I hope these songs bring some light into your life during these hard times.”
The LPs newly available on digital platforms — Better Day, For God and Country, Halos and Horns, Little Sparrow, Live and Well and Those Were the Days — were released between 2001 and 2011, and contain nearly 100 songs from the country star’s catalog. Live and Well is a live album recorded during the 2003 Halos and Horns tour, while the other five albums are studio projects. Little Sparrow features a cover of Collective Soul’s “Shine,” which earned Parton a Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance, in 2002.
Parton has been active on social media during the coronavirus pandemic, providing guidance, reassurance, and the occasional performance to her fans. (She also has donated $1 million to Vanderbilt University Medical Center to aid in COVID-19 research.) On YouTube, she launched a read-aloud series, called Goodnight With Dolly, in partnership with her Imagination Library organization. And this past Easter Sunday she shared a video in which she performed “He’s Alive.”
