With DMA’S recently pushing back the release of their third album, The Glow, guitarist Johnny Took has used the opportunity to release the latest single from his new side-project/supergroup, Big Time.
If you’ve been involved in the Sydney music scene, there’s a chance you might already be across Big Time. First launched in 2017 by Johnny and Matty Took, the pair made their live debut in August of that year, supporting The Jezabels at the Lansdowne Hotel.
Of course, the brothers are no strangers to the Aussie music scene either. While Johnny has found himself touring the world as part of DMA’S, Matty has performed to huge crowds as the frontman of PLANET, recently supporting Liam Gallagher during his visit in December.
Since their live debut though, the sparsely-populated Instagram page from Big Time has occasionally provided updates on new music, including the news in September of 2017 that their debut single was being mixed.
Now, it seems that recent months have seen the Took brothers find the time to formally launch the project as intended, with the single “It’s You” premiering overnight.
So in the wake of this madness I’m thinking bout finally releasing a side project with my brother from @PLANETmusicau – thoughts @MattyTook ? Time to drop @bigtimeau ????? ⏲⏱🧭🎛🕰⌛️

A hazy, indie-rock number, “It’s You” undoubtedly serves as a majestic combination of the pair’s musical skills, and provides a refreshing oasis of new tunes during this dry period of live shows.
Though there’s currently no word as to when we might hear more music from Big Time, or potentially see more shows down the line, the duo are set to release the official Tyson Perkins-directed video for the track next week, with a YouTube premiere currently set for 7pm on Monday night.
Be sure to follow Big Time on socials for further updates, and be sure to keep an eye out for DMA’S’ new album when it arrives on its rescheduled release date of July 10th.
Update: Big Time have now released the video for “It’s You”, which can be seen below.
