Diana Ross will return to Australia next year for an exclusive headline performance.
The music legend is set to headline the Sydney Summertime concert series on Friday, March 5th, marking her first show in the city in over two decades.
Ross will be joined at the Centennial Park show by UK electro duo Groove Armada (DJ set), with more special guests to be announced.
It’s a massive coup for the new concert series, which has already announced performances from the likes of The Strokes, Beck, Courtney Barnett and Kings of Leon.
“Diana Ross is an absolute icon and to have her choose Sydney Summertime for her only Australian show, one night only in Centennial Park, on the eve of Mardi Gras is exactly the kind of unforgettable moment we created this series for,” Jessica Ducrou and Elise Huntley, co-founders of Sydney Summertime and Directors of Black Peach, said.
“It’s going to be something very special.”
Minister for Jobs and Tourism Steve Kamper added: “Diana Ross is one of the most iconic performers in music history, with a career spanning decades and a catalogue of hits loved by generations of fans. To have an international superstar of her calibre headline at Sydney Summertime for an Australian-exclusive performance is a major coup for NSW. Events like this are a powerful driver of tourism. They bring more visitors to our state, generating economic benefits for local businesses and jobs, and reinforce NSW’s reputation as a destination for world-class live music and entertainment.”
