New Zealand hard rock heavyweights and 2025 AMA People’s Choice Award winners Devilskin have just dropped Re-Evolution — a towering collection of thirteen tracks that captures just how far the band have come in their fifteen-year journey.
Landing exactly eleven years after their chart-topping, double-platinum debut We Rise, the new album follows a sold-out 11-date tour across Aotearoa and showcases Devilskin at their most expansive musically, emotionally, and sonically.
“We really approached this album from a fresh perspective,” the band shared in a statement. “From the way we shared demos and ideas, to using a studio we had never been in before; the process was streamlined for precision. We knew exactly what we wanted to achieve. We set some lofty goals for ourselves and everyone pushed themselves that little bit harder. We all had the one focus — just to make this our finest work, our most expressive, expansive and evocative album.”
Produced once again by long-time collaborator Dave Rhodes, Re-Evolution dives into heavy terrain: grief, depression, addiction, death, and resilience all run through the record’s emotional core. But there’s also beauty in the chaos, with sweeping melodic passages, moments of vulnerability, and immersive sonic landscapes that feel both fresh and unmistakably Devilskin.
Despite the high stakes of following their past successes, the band say the process came together more smoothly than ever. “While we all feel the natural pressure to out-perform each previous record, this one felt remarkably relaxed, and probably more about having fun recording and seeing our visions come to life in real time,” they explain. “Having the control, the resources, and the right people around is key.”
Re-Evolution also marks a first for Devilskin: guest appearances. The band nabbed Nik Barker of Twelve Foot Ninja and Joe Hottinger of Halestorm for feature spots, bringing new voices into their already wide-ranging sound.
