David Gray has rescheduled his upcoming visit to Australia, with his 20th anniversary tour of White Ladder now set to take place in late 2021.
Originally announced in early March, Gray revealed he was set to return to Australia in November and December of 2020 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his fourth studio album, White Ladder (which was actually released in November of 1998).
Unfortunately, Gray’s tour announcement was followed just days later by the announcement of worldwide lockdowns as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Though it was assumed that these dates would not go ahead as planned, an official announcement has been made today which sees these dates pushed back to late 2021.
“I finally have some important information to share with you about the inevitable rescheduling of The White Ladder Anniversary dates,” Gray wrote in a statement. “All dates will now be happening in 2021. All existing tickets remain valid so please hang on to those.
“At the moment everything feels a bit like being in some weird David Cronenberg film in which impending events keep moving off further and further into the future, but rest assured, these shows will happen! And when they do happen they’re going to be charged with a heightened sense of joy and celebration.
“Thank you for your patience, stay safe, keep the faith and I’ll see you all next year.”
Originally set to kick off in New Zealand before travelling west through Australia, the rescheduled dates will now take a reverse rout, beginning in Fremantle in mid-November and wrapping up in Auckland.
While all current tickets remain valid for the rescheduled dates, those wishing to obtain a refund can do so by contacting their point of purchase.
