The legendary Crowded House and beloved indie folk group Angus & Julia Stone have been revealed as performers for the 2024 Shure Rolling Stone Australia Awards.
The awards return to Sydney on Tuesday, March 26th with a star-studded party to celebrate Australian music, heading to Ivy Sydney in the heart of the CBD for the first time.
One of Australia’s best-loved musical exports, Angus & Julia Stone will serenade revellers on the night with their inimitable indie folk stylings. As well as performing, Angus is nominated in the Best Record category for his Dope Lemon project’s release Kimosabè. Following the awards, Angus & Julia Stone will release their sixth studio album, Cape Forestier, in May.
Also scheduled to perform is Neil Finn of iconic rock band Crowded House, staples of the Australian and New Zealand music scene since forming in 1985. Crowded House have won 12 ARIA Awards and eight APRA Awards, achieving chart success in the US, UK, Europe and South Africa, as well as being inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame in 2016.
Former triple j breakfast presenter turned host of the popular daily Matt & Alex – All Day Breakfast podcast, and occasional political candidate, Alex Dyson will reprise his role as host of the awards.
“I’m extremely honoured to be invited back to the Rolling Stone Australia Awards once again. Sure, I wish it was because my experimental spoken word psy-jazz record was nominated for Best Album, but until that gets the traction it deserves I’m still thrilled to be involved in the capacity of host,” Dyson says.
Rolling Stone AU/NZ Editor-in-Chief Poppy Reid adds: “With this year’s awards taking place at our new home of Ivy in Sydney, we wanted to really step up our performer lineup in 2024. I’m looking forward to hearing Angus & Julia Stone’s incredible vocal harmonies ringing through the venue.
“Of course, it’s also an absolute privilege to reveal that Crowded House will also take the stage at the awards, and we all can’t wait to hear these genuine icons of our industry.”
The annual awards welcome multiple new and returning sponsors this year, with headline partner Shure back for 2024, alongside American Apparel, JMC Academy and Largo Brewing.
Vying for top honours at this year’s awards are the likes of Troye Sivan, Dom Dolla, Peach PRC, Teen Jesus and The Jean Teasers, The Teskey Brothers, and Fisher, who all received multiple nominations. Across the evening, the following awards categories will be bestowed upon worthy recipients: Best Single, Best New Artist, Best Record, and the Rolling Stone Global Award.
